Why Your AMD Processor Might Say “Made in China” or “Made in Malaysia”
If you’ve bought an AMD processor recently, you might have noticed it says either Made in China or Made in Malaysia on the label. That often raises a question. Are they different? Is one better than the other?
The simple answer is no. There’s no difference at all.
How AMD Production Works
The processor itself is designed by AMD and the chip is manufactured by TSMC in Taiwan. Once that’s done, the chips are sent to AMD’s packaging and testing facilities. This is where the silicon die is mounted, tested, and sealed into the CPU you install in your PC. Those final steps happen in a few different places, mainly China and Malaysia.
Why Two Countries?
- Supply chain resilience. Having more than one site helps avoid disruptions.
- Global distribution. Different locations make it easier to get CPUs where they’re needed faster.
- Balanced capacity. Using multiple facilities helps AMD keep up with worldwide demand.
What It Means for You
No matter which country is printed on the label, every AMD CPU goes through the same strict checks. Performance, quality, and reliability are exactly the same.
So if your processor says China or Malaysia, it makes no difference. It’s still a genuine AMD product, built to the same standards and ready to deliver the performance you expect.
At PC Tec UK, we stock both versions, so you always get genuine AMD CPUs at a fair price with fast delivery.
